QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND
Tūrangawaewae, “a place to stand”. Conceived for a client who wished to create a haven for themselves and a multigenerational retreat for family, three pavilions are set across the land, each echoing the others in form while expressing distinct programmes within. Together they define clear public and private realms, offering connection to others, to the landscape and to one’s inner world. Open courts stitch the pavilions together, allowing spaces to flow seamlessly between indoors and out, where light, shadow and materiality bind the architecture to its place.
